Tony Nathan (WA) has worked as a professional photographer for 17 years. He investigates the urban landscape of Perth, a city whose physical fabric appears to be in a state of continual and often radical transition.
Tai Shan belongs to a recent body of photographic work that explored quarries in Perth.
Nathan has exhibited in Japan and Holland as well as several solo and group shows including Transient States at the Lawrence Wilson Gallery in 2009; Linden 1968 at Linden Centre for Contemporary Arts, 2008; Field Works at The Church Gallery in association with FotoFreo in 2006; Mixtape at the Art Gallery of WA in 2005; and Night Visions at the Australian Centre for Photography in 2004. Nathan was selected as the winner of the inaugural City of Perth Photomedia Award in 2004 and the Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital Award in 2005. Nathan exhibited at PICA as part of the City of Perth Photomedia Award in 2004 and held his solo exhibition Proof of Light at PICA in 2005.
