In Discussion: Roderick Sprigg and Sam Doctor
18 February 2011

Friday 18 February, 6pm
Westend Gallery and Screen Space
Join PICA's Curator Leigh Robb as she interviews Roderick Sprigg and Sam Doctor about their current exhibitions at PICA. Both artists examine the mining industry and its impact on the community in distinct ways. Sprigg's work often relates to the psychological and physical drives of man, and in GOLD, Roderick further develops these concerns with new works that expand his discourse on masculinity, heroism and failure. In the Screen Space, Sam Doctor's A Song for the Stonebreakers is a subtle and moving video work that captures the working environment of sulphur miners in Indonesia, offering an unflinching look at the industry's impact on the landscape.
Don't miss this opportunity to hear these artists in lively discussion about their new exhibitions as well as their wider practice.
This is a Free Event and the PICA Bar will be open
