Illustrated Lecture with John Gerrard
5 March 2011

Saturday 5 March, 6pm
Performance Space
Introduced by Margaret Moore, Visual Arts Program Manager for the Perth International Arts Festival.
Join acclaimed Irish artist John Gerrard as he presents an illustrated lecture that surveys his significant career to date. Accompanying Gerrard's solo exhibition at PICA, and in his first visit to Australia, this lecture allows the unique opportunity to hear Gerrard elaborate on the complex processes behind his painstakingly generated real-time 3-D animations, which often examine the ramifications surrounding the depletion of natural resources and human consumption. Don't miss this chance to hear Gerrard detail his practice, which extends and develops traditions of painting, photography, cinema and sculpture.
John Gerrard lives and works in Vienna and Dublin and has exhibited extensively throughout Europe and America. He received a BFA from the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art at Oxford University in 1997 and an MFA from the School of The Art Institute of Chicago in 2000. He recently exhibited his project Animated Scene as part of the 53rd Venice Biennial in 2009.
Presented as part of the Perth International Arts Festival Visual Arts Program
