Double Orchestra!
Otomo Yoshihide
10 December 2011
Urban Orchard
Otomo Yoshihide is one of the most adventurous sound creators of the Tokyo and international music scene. In great demand since the 1980's, Otomo is a living legend of experimental and collaborative sound-scapes. On December 10 Otomo will create and then conduct a Double Orchestra made up of local musicians and singers in an extraordinary free public concert in the Urban Orchard. The public is invited to experience this one-time-only sound collaboration at 6pm. The concert is part of PICA's current exhibition Alternating Currents and mirrors a concert that took place earlier this year in Fukushima. Double Orchestra is created in the spirit of solidarity for the people of Fukushima and for Japan after the tsunami and nuclear incident that devastated the area in March 2011Bring a picnic blanket and enjoy this unique event!
