Derek Kreckler's images, installations and performances have been exhibited widely including in Kwangju, Mumbai, New York and London as well as extensively throughout Australia. Apart from his performance, installations and photographic works he has written and directed works for theatre; notably, sit.com, presented by the 1997 Perth International Arts Festival and Dali (co-written with David Field) toured Sydney (Stables Theatre) and Melbourne (La Mama) in 1994. He has also has taught within the Australian University Art School system since 1982
Kreckler's work is held in collections including the Art Gallery of Western Australia, the Art Gallery of South Australia, Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney, Wesfarmers and various private collections.
