Artwork takes to the streets

6 October 2011

To celebrate PICA and Toyota's new partnership, renowned West Australian artist Alex Spremberg has created two new specially commissioned artworks for an exciting project in which the public has chosen the outcome. The artwork competition has now closed, and a winner has been determined. Spremberg's solo exhibition, Wrong Angles, is currently showing in PICA's Westend Gallery.

The design with the most votes is being used to wrap PICA's new Toyota Rukus, creating a stunning movable artwork in the streets of Perth.

The newly wrapped Rukus will be unveiled on 6 October at 12.00pm in the Perth Cultural Centre Amphitheatre. As a nod to the school holidays, children and families are also invited to take the time to decorate painterly cupcakes with multi-coloured icing for a delightfully artistic snack and to view some Spremberg inspired works made by young people as part of PICA's Spark_lab program.

This is a free event and all are welcome.

Proudly supported by Toyota WA.
