PICA's Internship Program

The Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts has created a new internship program consisting of two positions:

Curatorial Intern
Marketing & Communications Intern


Curatorial Intern

The Curatorial Intern will work closely with PICA's Curator on the research, administration and installation of the key exhibitions.

This position would be ideal for anyone at an early stage in their career with an interest in developing and applying their research and writing skills and gaining practical experience in a public contemporary art institution. The ideal candidate would be interested in pursuing a career in Curating or Visual Arts Management.

It is essential that the applicant be in their final year at University or possesses a graduate or post-graduate degree in Art History, Museum or Curatorial Studies,Visual Arts or Arts Management.

This position is for 1-2 days a week and runs for a period of 3-6 months, depending on the successful candidates' requirements and availability.

Marketing & Communications Intern

The Marketing & Communications Intern will work closely with PICA's Communications Manager on all communications for the organisation including the exhibition and performance programs. Roles will include media monitoring, copywriting, utilising social media, distribution, maintaining the look of PICA and help to grow PICA's audience.

This position would be ideal for anyone who is interested in all artforms and arts marketing as a career. This position will be quite hands on and practical. While the position is specific to Marketing and Communications, the candidate will have a range of tasks that often cross over into other areas. This will give the intern a well-rounded experience working in a small, but very busy multi arts office environment.

It is essential that the applicant is at least 3 years out of high school, is driven and has a desire to work within the Marketing and Communications field. No tertiary degree is required, but a commitment to further education (especially in Arts Management or Marketing and Communications degrees) is desired.
