Nocturne

...Fifteen years ago I killed my sister... Steamworks Arts Productions (Savage Grace) presents the Australian premiere of award winning American playwright Adam Rapp's Nocturne, an exquisite solo performance work for leading WA actor Gibson Nolte. Rich in language, Nocturne traces the enigmatic silhouette of hope and redemption through personal tragedy and exile. ...reconciliation forms the heart and soul of Nocturne, a startling, unnerving work of art that fiercely pushes the boundaries of theater... Adam Rapp is an original, distinctive voice unafraid to be too descriptive. Michael Kuchwara, Associated Press Adam Rapp was the recipient of the 1997 Herbert & Patricia Brodkin Scholarship and he also completed the Lila Acheson Wallace Playwriting Fellowship at Juillard. Nocturne was awarded Boston's Elliott Norton Award for Best New Script as well as Best New Play by the Independent Reviewers of New England. It was chosen as one of the Burns Mantle Ten Best Plays of the 2000-2001 Season (an accolade shared in the same year by Edward Albee and Tom Stoppard). Rapp uses subtle, sensuous, bold and funny language... So detailed and poetic is the writing... that we buy and are powerfully moved by the whole thing.
