Hatched 02 features 69 artists representing 18 university art schools, from every Australian state and territory. Hatched takes audiences into a new world of experience, generating opportunities to engage the creative and intellectual traditions, contemporary practices and make fresh responses to living in this country and this region at this time. The shape of the Hatched exhibition is determined by the preoccupations and diversity of media employed by these recently graduated artists, and encompasses, MULTIMEDIA & INSTALLATION: including computer generated work, electronic media, digital imaging, interactive media, installation and time based art; DESIGN: including graphic design, industrial and product design; FINE ART & OBJECTS: incorporating painting, sculpture, print-making, ceramics and glass, jewellery and metal and FILM & VIDEO in a range of formats. There is a celebratory aspect to this exhibition, which showcases the innovative, the expressive and the speculative, in tandem with practical, technical and critical skills.
