'Love is not an argument Phil... love is not an argument'
From the company that was awarded Best Production in the 2003 WA Fringe Festival, comes the World Premiere of
BED, written by acclaimed Sydney playwright Brendan Cowell (Co-winner of the 2001 Sydney Morning Herald Patrick White Playwrights' Award).
In February 2004, ThinIce Productions will stage the first ever production of this contemporary new work. Featuring a talented cast and crew of young and emerging Perth artists,
BED will be directed by Be-Active BSX-Theatre's Artistic Director Matt Lutton (
The Bald Prima Donna & Finalist for the Best Newcomer award at the 2003 WA Theatre Industry IFAC/Equity Guild Awards).
An epic journey of Phil, the bitter genius - as he rejects love, abuses love, needs love - searching for the boy he kisses at 14 to the bosoms of 73 year old Flo. Can he find it or does it come too late?
Its is the story of Phil's most significant lovers, set within a room of the surreal. Even the walls breathe and move with the performers. A visually rich, fast paced production. Experience in both image and dialogue the colours and darkness, the wounding and transformation of sex and love.
'A tough, unsentimental and insightful look at the stages of our life cycle.'
David Williamson.
BED stars Andrew Hale as Phil (
Rusty Bugles,
Shakespeare in the Park), Renee McIntosh (
Educating Rita), Gillian Alexy, Francesca Waters, Leon Bryant and Nick Candy.
