The Western Australian Theatre Development Initiative (WATDI)
WATDI has been developed by The Blue Room, PICA and ARTRAGE at the invitation of the Australia Council Theatre Board. It is a new funding program that aims to change the face of theatre in WA.
Supported by the Australia Council Theatre Board, WATDI funds the development of new theatre practice by WA independent artists, companies, collectives and collaborations looking to take creative risks and explore new territory, unencumbered by the pressures of a pre-set production and presentation plan. WATDI is for the entire WA independent theatre sector, across the spectrum of practice, interests and experience.
It's an initiative that's all about the creation of sophisticated and ambitious new theatre practice, born through the kind of development support that artists long for, but very rarely have an opportunity to experience.
